Position Title: Director of Therapeutic Recreation

Compensation (Pay/Benefits) Our employees are our most valuable asset; therefore, we offer competitive pay and benefits. The pay range for these positions starts at $65,100 - $79,700 a year for full time, depending on qualifications (i.e., licensure and experience). This salary reflects a 40-hour workweek, annualized. Any agreed-upon reduction in weekly hours will be reflected in salary commensurately. Please inquire with interest. Schedule: FT - Monday-Friday, 9-5 occasional weekends and holidays

Program Summary:

The Therapeutic Recreation programs at St. David's Center are person-centered, community-based programs that focus on modeling, teaching, and promoting positive-peer relationships, growing independence and adaptive skills, improving, or maintaining overall wellbeing, and increasing community involvement. Participants work on enhancement of physical, cognitive, social, and affective development through personalized Therapeutic Recreation goals. The Therapeutic Recreation Coordinators work alongside the participant's family and team to empower and transform their lives through a structured group activities including community outings and onsite therapeutic recreation programming.

The Director of Therapeutic Recreation and ILS Therapy Services provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight of all aspects of Therapeutic Recreation and ILS Therapy programming at St. David's. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with certification requirements, payer regulations, and governing statutes, while upholding best practices in service delivery and documentation for Medical Assistance billing.

The TR Director guides the development and evaluation of program models and outcomes, aligning service areas with the organization's strategic plan and responding to the evolving needs of the community. This includes oversight of client service plans, direct and indirect supervision of program staff, and ensuring high standards of care, training, and regulatory compliance.

In collaboration with internal teams and external partners, the TR Director fosters innovation and community engagement to enhance programming for children, adults, and families. The role also includes financial oversight to ensure program sustainability and active participation in state and community committees representing the interests of St. David's.

This position reports to the Vice President of Community-Based Disability Services

Job Qualifications:

Education

Master's Degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree required in Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, or a closely related field. Training in program leadership, clinical supervision, or disability services strongly preferred.

Certification/Licenses: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required. Additional licensure or certifications are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of six years' supervisory experience in direct service and program administration for individuals with developmental disabilities or vulnerable populations. At least five years of specialized experience in Therapeutic Recreation, including strategic program development, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex service systems, and ensure alignment with state and federal regulations.
