Compensation
Our employees are our most valuable asset; therefore, we offer competitive pay and benefits. The pay range for these positions starts at $46,804 - $52,005 a year for full time, depending on qualifications (i.e., licensure and experience). This salary reflects a 40-hour workweek, annualized. Any agreed-upon reduction in weekly hours will be reflected in salary commensurately. Please inquire with interest. Schedule:
· Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
· Schedule will be both flexible and coordinated in conjunction with organizational needs.
Location:
Work from Home with monthly in-center meetings at Nicollet Center location.
Program Summary:
This individual will serve as the liaison between payers, funding sources, clients, and internal clinical and program staff at St. David's Center for Child & Family Development to ensure that payer authorizations are performed in compliance with health plans, regulatory agencies, and state and federal requirements. This position is part of the Billing Office team that strives to provide exceptional external and internal customer service related to benefits, authorizations, billing/claims processing and account management processes.
The Billing & Payer Relations Specialist must be a problem solver, highly task-oriented, detail-oriented, and a team player. Key responsibilities include checking benefits, verifying eligibility, obtaining authorization of services from payers, managing re-authorization processes including required action and communication with payers, clients & families, clinical, program and other St. David's Center staff (e.g., staff in the Health Information Management Department).
Position Overview:
· Collects relevant data and notes regarding all St. David's Center client / family benefits, insurance eligibility statuses, and coverage details.
· Verifies payer and policy information for all agency clients, obtains prior authorizations for services before clinical scheduling (as necessary), and notes any exclusions for services.
· Re-checks benefits and insurance eligibility status on a regular basis and informs appropriate staff of any lapse in eligibility.
· Obtains all detail from the payer source regarding authorized coverage of services (including dates of the authorization period and associated authorized units or dollar amounts of services).
· Proactively listens for all customers' needs (both internal and external to the agency) and looks for opportunities to exceed customer expectations during the payer authorization processes.

Job Qualifications:
Education
· 2 Year or Associates Degree in Health Management and/or Medical Billing or equivalent experience.
Experience
· Minimum of 3 years experience in working with health/medical insurance plans and state payer sources.
· Previous experience in EHR billing systems preferred.
· Experience working with behavioral health insurance, rehab therapy insurance coverage, medical assistance/Medicaid, and State Waivers preferred.
